Kobe INK Monogatari YUHOBIKA BLUE is an ink that expresses the scenery of the historic Akashi.
Akashi City is mentioned in classics such as the Manyoshu and the Tale of Genji.
This ink is named after the archaic word "Yuhobika," which means a relaxed and calm appearance, and was used as the scenery of Akashi in the classic masterpiece "The Tale of Genji - Wakamurasaki".
The gentle scenery of Akashi, which was loved by people in the past, is expressed in an image of blue with a slight greenish tint.
[About the artist]
Shin Tanaka
Born in Osaka in 1979. Painter and picture book author.
He uses sand from the sea of Akashi, where his studio is located, as the base of his paintings, creating a unique texture. He uses the fine details of the sea sand from the shore.
The blessings of the earth, such as rocks and sand brought from the mountains, and the blessings of the sea, such as shells and coral brought from the sea, are mixed there. The collected sea sand is washed to remove the salt and then dried in the sun.
In this way, even the sun's energy is trapped on the canvas.
While working as a painter, he began illustrating picture books around 2002, and made his debut as a picture book author in 2005 with Grimm Press in Taiwan. Since then, he has published many works both in Japan and abroad.
He is currently active in a wide range of areas, including exhibitions overseas, stage art, advertising, clothing design, character creation, lectures, and workshops.
