≪Processing Techniques | Kyoto Foil Stamping (Platinum Foil)≫
Kyoto foil stamping (platinum foil) is created through the foil-beating technique of stretching metal to the thinnest possible thickness, and the delicate process of fixing it in place.
By carefully assessing the condition of the base material, the amount of pressure applied, and the humidity, each sheet is applied by hand, resulting in a unique, uneven texture with depth.
Depending on the angle and how the light hits it, it reveals a subtle yet undeniable presence—a characteristic unique to this technique.
These are not defects, but rather variations in appearance due to the handcrafted nature of the work. Please enjoy them.
